DJ Sunn the Beatmonster has always loved music. Raised on the southside of Chicago he recieved a very early introduction to the world of Motown, R&B, Funk and Soul.

 

A child of the 80's, he also had vast exposure to everything that made that decade great, from Aerosmith to ZZ Top. He first learned his way around the decks at age 12. An older cousin taught him how to beat match and play Chicago House music.

 

As Sunn grew older and Hip-Hop became more popular, that became his love. Throughout High School and into college, Sunn performed with several groups and even managed to record multiple projects. Throughout his time performing he never lost the love of standing behind the tables though. Sunn majored in radio broadcasting and was an On Air announcer for Urban, News Talk, Oldies, and Classic Rock radio stations. It is that background and experience that has formed Sunn's DJ Philosophy. When asked what type of music he plays, his response is always the same, "I am a DJ, I play whatever makes the crowd have a good time...no matter the crowd".
